Gypsy waltz, gypsy cocek, tango, ragga or horo – the musical journey is imaginary, and magnificent. After almost 40 years on stage, Olah Vince, a legendary musical figure in Novi Sad, is taking his band a big step forward. Basic instrumentation: guitar, violin, cimbalom, double bass, percussions, voice – no electronic gadgets or keyboards; apparently simple, but how enticing! Expression is everything, these musicians know how to lift your spirits, how to create feeling, and do they know how to play. Vince has always had his own bands, but collaborations are as essential to him. He is, amongst others, a member of Boris Kovac’s LaDaABa Orchestra – and he is even trying to establish a gypsy radio station in Novi Sad. The region of Serbia he calls his home is called Vojvodina, a part of Panonia, a region open to all musical styles; these gypsies thrive on diversity. Listen to the music, it will make you dance and shout, and it will make you feel free.
