Métisse music now represents the catalogue of Lucky Guitar Music, the American publisher handling, amongst other blues artists, the extraordinary Native American singer and excellent guitarist Pura Fé, on release on the French label label Dixiefrog in Europe. Pura Fé has had a great impact with her first album release here, a powerful and heartfelt mix of soul, blues and native American music, and has already performed frequently in Europe in 2006. Now, a new album is scheduled for release, again on Dixiefrog, and there are plenty more concerts scheduled, including some great festivals (Cognac Blues, Nancy Jazz Pulsations, Montpellier/Radio France, JVC Jazz Fest…), in 2007. Pura Fé’s agent in France is Nueva Onda.

Also signed recently, the UK catalogues Big World and Music Like Dirt, containing some great reggae works (Leonard Dillon, The Ethiopians, Desmond Bryan, George Agard amongst many others) as well as a great number of excellent r & b, funk, pop, rock and singer/songwriter copyrights.

Jazz pianist Yaron Herman new trio album will be mixed at the end of this month. The very talented young musician continues collecting rave reviews for his solo performances and has been selected for the “Plateau Jazz ADAMI” a publicly financed musicians support system here in France, which will give him the opportunity to present his music this summer at the Nice and Vienne Jazz Festivals, as well as the Jazz Festival La Villette here in Paris. These three feature amongst many other dates, including two great festivals in Germany (Villingen and Schloss Elmau), concerts in the US, in Uruguay, in Poland, Greece, the Netherlands, etc. organized by his excellent agent and manager, Christophe Deghelt. The trio album with Matt Brewer (bass) and Gerald Cleaver (dr) is due to be launched at the wonderful Bouffes du Nord theatre in Paris, in October, on the Laborie label distributed by Naïve.

The latest album by the amazing Fanfare Ciocarlia from Rumania, entitled “QUEENS AND KINGS” is No. 1 in the world music charts this month – congratulations!

Their producers and agents, Henri Ernst and Helmut Neumann of Asphalt Tango, certainly merit the big applause they are getting for this excellent production which assembles great gypsy singers from all over Europe to sing their own and traditional compositions.

“SUGA BABE”, one of the titles of Beyonce’s album “B’DAY”, is based on a sample from the American Ubiquity publishing catalogue represented here by Métisse Music; the original title is called “Searchin’ for Soul” and is composed by Chuck Middleton. This is the third major sample in recent months, after Wyclef Jean’s and Shakira’s “Hips don’t lie”, based on a Termidor copyright and “Smile” by Lily Allen, based on a Happy Valley title by reggae greats Clement Dodd and Jackie Mittoo.
