Posted August 01, 2007Métisse Music is happy to announce the signature of French artist and composer Sylvain Chauveau. Sylvain, whose last album of minimalist interpretations of Depeche Mode compositions “TO THE BONE” sold 10000 copies in France recently, will have a new short album (5 titles) out on Type Records in the fall. His “BLACK BOOK OF CAPITALISM” CD, originally released in France 7 years ago, will be also out on UK label Type; and the film “NUAGE”(“Cloud”), a first long feature film by director Sébastien Betbeder has all its music composed by Sylvain. The directors previous short movie “ANDREA’s HANDS” (Les Mains d’Andréa), also with music by Sylvain Chauveau, was selected at the Locarno International Film Festival 2007. The feature film will be on release in France in September, and there will be a soundtrack release, including the short as well as the feature film, also on UK label Type.
The launch of pianist Yaron Herman’s trio album with Matt Brewer and Gerald Cleaver “A TIME FOR EVERYTHING” is now scheduled with two dates at the Paris Museum of Judaïsm end of October, and three more in November, at the Sunside club, as part of a major tour in those two months. The LaBorie Jazz album will be on release on October 1, and will be out in several European countries at the same date, through the Naïve Records international distribution network.
Charles-Eric Charrier of the French pop/contemporary music duo Man is in the process of finishing several projects, of which one is going to be released on the Paris multimedia label SWARM, a collective of artists in the music and visual fields.
Jazz pianist Giovanni Mirabassi has completed the recording of his next album, also in trio formation, with Gianluca Renzi, the brilliant Italian acoustic bass player, and Leon Parker on drums. The album, entitled “TERRA FURIOSA”, will be on release beginning of 2008 through Discograph.
Jacky Terrasson is doing a number of dates in France and Europe this summer; his amazing tightrope walk of improvisation in duo with Michel Portal, two French concerts with the Ron Carter Trio in July, and some solo dates to support his beautiful MIRROR solo album.
Claude Chalhoub’ album is obviously a source of great music for film directors: The Lebanese violinist’s composition “KAA” from his eponymous album produced by Michael Brook and released in 2001 on Teldec/Warner will be part of the soundtrack of “INTO THE WILD”, a movie directed and co-produced by Sean Penn, and due out in the States end of September, 2007. The story is based on the bestselling non-fiction book of the same title by Jon Krakauer.
