On October 3, the American drummer Leon Parker, resident in Paris now, will at last present his new voices/body rhythm project LEON with the group ‘vbr ensemble’ at the Sunset Club in Paris, at 7 p.m. The performances watched in New York a few years ago in a solo version make us think that this should not be missed.

Brian Eno has composed the music of the new Peter Jackson (King Kong, Lord of the Rings…) movie « The Lovely Bones » based on the best-selling novel by Alice Sebold, which will be on release in France in January 2010.

Pura Fé, the American singer with origins from the Tuscarora tribe will have her third album « Full Moon Rising » out on Dixiefrog in October. The artist performs a beautifully coherent mixture of blues, soul, folk and music inspired by her Indian heritage.


Boo Boo Davis new release

Next month will also see the release of Boo Boo Davis new CD “AIN’T GOTTA DIME” on Black&Tan. Boo Boo Davis belongs to the last generation of musicians that write and play the blues based on first hand experience of a hard life in the Mississippi Delta. He will tour Europe to promote this release, with six dates in France. more

The twins Christophe and Tony Raymond (violin and piano) are preparing their next Paris concert as a quartet at the Sunside club, to take place on October 8. They will be interviewed by the Paris Jazz station TSF the night before, with more media attention tbc.

Bass clarinet player and composer Denis Colin, whose new album “Subject to change” will be out on French label Chant du Monde beginning of October, will play two concerts with his band in October: a reduced format for the Paris Sunside on October 21 and a big band (12 musicians including Tony Malaby) at the big stage of the Café de la Danse. Jacky Terrasson at the Festival de Jazz at la Villett

After his triumph at the Marciac Festival with his new trio, Jacky Terrasson will perform at the Festival de Jazz at la Villette in Paris on September 11, and will then enter the New York studio where he will record his new trio CD end of this month, for a release on the Concord label in 2010.

Louisa Bey continues the promotion of her Enja album “TURNING ME JAZZ” with two new Paris dates: At the big “Huma” festival in the Paris area on September 11, and on September 27, a concert on the Batofar boat in the context of the “Festival Spectaculaire” organized by the Paris City Council.
